Pregnant abroad – Guest post for Lilypod and Sweet pea

image

This week the lovely Jess asked me to guest post for her while she was on holiday. I wrote about my experience of being pregnant abroad! Jess is one of my favourite bloggers, so a great opportunity to check out her blog too! Go on, have a little read over at Lilypodandsweetpea

Love the little things Week 6

Once again I’m joining in with Morgana over at But why mummy why. If you want to find out more or join in, click the link and find out how!

Here are the little things I’ve loved from the past week:

Read

This week I have spent time putting all the amazing gifts from our baby shower away into the nursery and reading all the lovely cards we were given. We have amazing family and friends who were so generous!

Watched

I’m suddenly very aware that I now have only 3 and a half weeks until the baby is due, so I’ve spent time this week watching the world go by and making the most of everything happening at home like having a lie in with the dogs, having a nap whenever I need to, watching Grant do the garden and all the other things that I’l never be able to do peacefully again! The baby can’t get here quick enough for us, but before he gets here we’re making the most of the relaxing time at home as we know very soon we’ll not have much time to sit around doing nothing!

Of course it has been all about maternity clothes lately but all of a sudden even those are too small and the only thing I’m comfortable in is either no clothes at all or a vest and pjyama bottoms! I’m also baking hot with this weather, so the giant power fan is my new best friend. We’re now half way engaged too, so it really is not long now!

I’m in love with Ella Henderson’s new track Ghost. I found this acoustic version on You Tube – her voice is unreal – go, listen!

This week I made Grant paint my toenails! I have had to get them done in a salon for a while now as I’ve not been able to reach them myself, but this week they couldn’t fit me in so I had to make do with his handywork for a few days until they could see me. He actually did a very good job and I now know who I’ll be getting to do them next time the salon are busy!nails, paint, husband, pregnant

And lastly….

My new favourite craving is ice. I seem to crunch it day and night and I can’t stop! Over the last few months I’ve had quite a few cravings that have come on and lasted anywhere from a week to a few months but most seem to have disappeared again now. Ice is the latest one but I’m hoping it goes after the birth or I might be in danger of breaking my teeth if it lasts much longer! Another thing making me laugh this week is not being sure how much longer I’ll be able to drive for. I’m too fat for all of our cars!

Love the little things week 5

It’s that time of week again – time for one of my favourite linkys  ‘Love the little things’ with Morgana at But why mummy why. If you want to join in or find out more, click the link and get involved! Here are the little things I’ve been loving this week…

Read

This week we had our second NCT class. The teacher was explaining all about birth, pain relief and the different choices we have when in labour. One thing really interested me which I hadn’t heard about before and that was delayed cord clamping. All sounds a bit gory, doesn’t it? But all it means is that instead of clamping the cord immediately, you wait for it to stop pulsing naturally and then clamp it. The benefits are that the baby will have healthier blood and iron levels. I think there is a slightly higher risk of jaundice, but the health benefits outweigh the risk of that, so it’s something I’ll definitely be putting in my birth plan.

Watched

Last night I got roped into watching the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Brazil (downside of being married…) I have to admit it wasn’t as painful as I expected and I actually quite enjoyed it! Very colourful, enjoyable to watch and didn’t drag on forever. Result. I can’t say I’m going to enjoy watching any of the football though. Grant will watch the bigger games each week on the TV, but I’m afraid he’ll be confined to his laptop and earphones for the rest of them. I’m about to give birth to his first son, so he’s in no position to moan….

This week has been baking hot, so jeans and maternity jumpers are no longer my friend. I am usually a really cold person, but pregnancy has made me hotter than the sun – this child is cooking me from the inside out!!! Literally nothing will cool me down. The only thing that has come close is eating bowls of ice and drinking my magical mint choc chip Starbuck’s fraps. This week I combined the latter with a bargainous new summer dress from Sainsbury’s (£16) and I finally felt a fraction cooler. The dress is my new favouite thing in all the world – it’s very cool and light (actually a tad short for a pregnant person, but hey – I’m cooler in it than anything else so I don’t care!) I’ll be living in it every single day until this summer does a runner, or until the baby comes and my hormones return to that of a normal human.

If you’ve been following my ‘Little loves’ each week, you’ll know I’ve been sharing songs from my ‘Favourites’ playlist on Spotify and this week is no different. Here’s another one to wrap your ears around:

Again, it’s another fail this week! I’m hoping the same old excuse of being heavily pregnant will let me off people hoping I might have baked some nice cakes or got my craft head on. I can barely make a proper dinner at the moment I’m so hot and uncomfortable, so will see if anything changes by next week. I promise to have something worth mentioning for this section soon!

And lastly…

It’s my baby shower tomorrow!!! My sister and mum having been working hard, cooking up lots of secrets and I’m very excited! I have lots of friends coming and can’t wait to see them all and enjoy the sunshine and BBQ. I treated myself to some special nails this week – blue tips with little baby bows. CUTE!

Love the little things Week 4 #littleloves

As usual I’m joining in with Morgana over at But why mummy why for her Love the little things linky. If you want to join in, click the link and learn how! Here are the little things I’ve loved this week:

Read

As usual, lots more blogs!! I’ve been discovering lots more bloggers and great linkys this week too, such as Jessica’s fab blog Lilypod and Sweetpea and the Weekend Blog Hop linky by Claire Justine. Head over to their sites and have a look! I’ve also been asked to guest post for Jessica while she’s on holiday later this month, which I’m really excited about so watch out for that too!

Watched

I’ve not watched much TV or anything at all this week I’m afraid. As I’ve been on sick leave for months now, I think I’m a bit fed up of TV. There is one exception to that though of course – Dickinson’s Real Deal. I can’t get enough of that orange nutcase!

Same answer as always – maternity clothes!!! Don’t get me wrong, after 5 cycles of IVF and a hell of a lot of effort to get here, I’m definitely not going to moan – but man, do I want my old clothes back!! Maternity clothes were so exciting at first and even though I LOVE my bump, it’s very easy to stare at my pre-pregnancy clothes and wish I could wear them again, especially in this heat! So far at 33 weeks pregnant I’m nearly 3 stone heavier than normal, so I’m really looking forward to Weight Watchers, all the buggy walks, getting back to my old size 10 and all with a baby in tow!!

This week I’m still enjoying my Spotify account and can’t believe I abandoned it for so long! Here is another snippet from my ‘favourites’ playlist. I adore Band of Horses and this one of my favourite tracks. So much love. If you have time, just Stop. Listen. Enjoy. It’s a beauty.

Made

Oh dear. I’ve failed here too! I bought a pizza from a supermarket and then added peppers and extra cheese. that counts as making something, right?

Anyone….?

And lastly…

Big Brother has started this week. That is all.

More blogs!! I’ve been so behind lately, what with being busy, but I’m slowly starting to catch up and as a new blogger I’m getting used to finding time in the day to spend reading other people’s blogs and learning more. This week I’ve been loving a blog by another girl called Hannah called Budding Smiles. Both our babies are due very soon and we’ve been chatting all about that. Fab blog, click the link and have a nosey!

As usual every year I’ve been glued to BGT and these guys, I think, are just brilliant!

Wore

Since being pregnant and having to be signed off work sick, I have been trying to save money by stopping my fortnightly gel manicure and painting my own nails instead. It’s all well and good but I have to redo them every two days as they chip. This week I treated my fat, swollen, pregnant hands to some lovely gels. For the first time, I went for a french manicure using gel (I used to have french acrylics for about 10 years until I moved to gel colour). They didn’t turn out as great as I hoped – the white isn’t bright enough for me and they look a bit chunky – maybe applied to thick, so next time I’ll get a full colour as usual I think.

This week I re-discovered my own Spotify! I used to listen to all my music on there daily, but haven’t done for ages. I’ve been listening to my playlist titled ‘Hannah’s favourites’. I’m not great on knowing how to search people on spotify but my username is ‘hannahleber’, so head over and check it out! Here’s a little snippet of the kind of thing you’ll find:

This week I got clever with dying my own babygrows and muslins with Dylon. It was so easy!! Head here to read my blog post and see the results!

Since this week has been about music for me, here’s a thought from Berthold Auerbach that I love
