Shifting the baby weight – Progress

So as you’ll probably remember, I wrote a post recently about why I plan to lose my mum tum. If you missed it you can read it HERE.

Another week on Weight Watchers and I’m really enjoying it! I think because my motivation is so big this time round so I’m finding it easier to stick to. Yesterday was the first time since starting where I just wanted to eat all the chocolate ever made, but fortunately I resisted. I quickly heated up some soup and scoffed it down before my greed got the better of me. Once I was full, the need for chocolate vanished. I honestly don’t know what happened – I’m not even that keen on chocolate!!

I’ve learned this week not to let myself get to the point us Westerners would call ‘starving’. You know how they say never do your weekly food shop on an empty stomach? It’s kind of the same when dieting. If you let yourself feel really, really hungry the temptation to just devour anything in sight can be huge. Much like the cake below. Doesn’t it look good…..

Why I plan to shift the baby weight in 2015!

It’s been nearly 7 months since I had Austin and I’ve got to the point where I feel I want to shift the mum tum. I don’t feel in any pressure to do it from anyone else at all, but I have a few big events coming up in 2015 and I’d love to look back at photos and be happy with how I look.

This week I went back to my old faithful Weight Watchers. I did try Diet Chef recently and even though I really loved it at the time, for me it wasn’t going to work long term. Weight Watchers has always worked well for me so I’m straight back to it! I haven’t had my first weigh in yet as I’ve only been dieting for 4 days but I’ve already lost 3lb which I’m very happy with! Just shows how much rubbish I must have been eating over Christmas to lose so much so quick….

imgresIn 2015 this is what’s going down:

  • Feb/March this year we are off to Lanzarote or somewhere similar with friends (must get that booked actually!)
  • May is my best friend’s hen do! We are off to Bath for a relaxing weekend at a spa – swimsuits again!
  • July this year is my best friend’s wedding! AND I’M BRIDESMAID! Tight fitting dress alert…
  • Summer
  • July is also Austin’s first birthday. I’d love to look back at the photos and be pleased with how I looked on the day. July is also mine and my husband’s birthday so we might go away again. Swimsuit!

So, these are the important dates coming up and I have to fit in all sorts of dresses and bikinis. Eeek!

I won’t be filling you in on stones and pounds lost, but I will probably write another post in a month or so with general progress. I’m really pleased I’m bridesmaid as that is a real incentive to look great, so here’s hoping I stick to the diet and look fab by Summer!

Here are some meals I’ve been enjoying this week. I’ve been cooking for myself with some lovely fresh food and it’s been lovely to enjoy some vegetables again after the Christmas period. Grant had pizza the other night and I didn’t even bat an eyelid – breakthrough! My Nutribullet is my most favourite purchase ever – fab zero point fruit smoothies for breakfast every morning and they keep me going until lunch.  I’m sure I’ll blog about that soon too.

Diet Chef – My hamper has arrived!

Eeeek it’s here! As you may remember I recently mentioned that I will be working with Diet Chef to review their diet plan by doing a trial of it myself for 4 weeks. Yesterday my hamper arrived and it all looks so yummy! The portion sizes are actually quite a bit large than I expected for a diet, which I’m really pleased with as there’s nothing worse than feeling starving whilst trying to lose weight. The packaging is really enticing too, great colours!

I really love the fact that Diet Chef hampers arrive in an unbranded box. A very clever bit of non-marketing there I think. I wouldn’t care less if my neighbours saw a diet box arriving at my house, but then again I’m friendly with my neighbours and am also quite a confident person, so it wouldn’t bother me. However, that’s probably not the case for most dieters. Most people want to lose weight as they might not feel great, might not like the way they look or might have low self esteem due to weight gain, so having your neighbours nose at the fact you’re trying to lose weight could add extra pressure and embarrassment. Fab move to have the box unbranded, so even the courier doesn’t know what he’s delivering. Here it is just opened – have a peek!

When I opened the box fully layer by layer it seemed never ending! If you’re thinking of trying Diet Chef, I’d definitely make some room in your kitchen as it can take over once fully unpacked!

You can’t expect anything else though when you’re ordering an entire month’s worth of food to come at once. I was a bit worried about where on earth I was going to store it all once I saw how much there was, but I soon found two worktop baskets and a small shelf. Breakfast and snacks in baskets, then Lunch and dinners on the shelf. Yep, no fridge! All food can be stored at room temperature in a cool dry place, so shelves/cupboards/pantries are all perfect. Here’s a look at my storage solution

LUNCH AND DINNER

I chose every single item myself from the huge food range online and will be enjoying meals such as porridge, cookies, crisps, soups, pasta pots, milkshakes, sausage and mash, casseroles, carbonara, paella, shepherds pie, lasagne, curry, popcorn, pretzels, Chinese…… the list goes on, and on!

Stay tuned to find out my starting weight, progress and meal photos. I can’t wait to start later this week. Bring it on Diet Chef!
